Osteoarthritis Care Is About More Than Pain Medication
One of the biggest challenges of osteoarthritis (OA) is that it can make everyday movements a struggle. Going for a walk, getting up from a chair, taking the stairs: all can start to feel harder when you’re living with joint pain and stiffness.
As a result, many people with OA assume they should move less, often out of an assumption that they’re damaging their joints. However, the opposite is actually true: appropriate movement is one of the most valuable tools for maintaining strength, mobility, and independence.
Of course, when your joints hurt, regular physical activity can be difficult. That’s where the Ace Physique team comes in. We offer several treatment techniques that can help make movement more manageable and build the physical capacity you need for everyday life.
Why Exercise Helps Your Joints Do More
Many people mistakenly believe that exercise will “wear down” a joint, worsening their symptoms. While OA is a degenerative condition involving changes in cartilage and other tissues throughout the joint, it is also influenced by age-related and other factors.
In reality, regular exercise helps send blood flow to the joints, providing the tissues with nourishment to keep them healthy. It also strengthens the muscles around a joint, improving force absorption and protecting the joint during movement.
The key, of course, is selecting the right type and amount of exercise. Our team can help with this by assessing how you move, identifying areas of weakness or reduced mobility, and developing an exercise plan that matches your abilities and goals.
Making Movement More Comfortable
While exercise is essential for managing osteoarthritis, the condition itself can make movement more painful. This is where Ace Physique’s range of treatment options can be useful:
Massage therapy
Acupuncture and dry needling
Shockwave therapy
Custom orthotics
The goal of these treatments is not simply to provide temporary relief. When symptoms are better controlled, it may become easier to stay active and work toward functional goals.

Structured Exercise Can Build Confidence
We don’t just help reduce pain from osteoarthritis, however. We also want to give you the tools you need to manage hip and knee osteoarthritis on your own. That’s why we offer the GLA:D program at our clinic.
GLA:D (Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark, where the program was first developed) combines education with structured, supervised exercise to help you better understand your condition and become more confident using your joints.
The program is split into two parts: education and exercise.

Laser Therapy for Osteoarthritis
Less Stiffness, More Comfortable Movement
Pain isn’t the only symptom of osteoarthritis. The condition can also make joints feel stiff and restricted. Inflammation within and around the joint can add to these symptoms, making exercise and everyday activities more challenging.
We want to highlight a treatment that can target these issues: laser therapy. By reducing pain and supporting the body’s response to inflammation, it may help create a more comfortable opportunity to keep moving.

How Does Laser Therapy Work?
Laser therapy is a noninvasive technique that delivers specific wavelengths of light to the targeted tissues. This light interacts with cells and may influence biological processes involved in inflammation, tissue activity, and pain.
Research on laser therapy for osteoarthritis, particularly knee osteoarthritis, suggests that it can help:
- Reduce joint pain
- Decrease stiffness
- Improve physical function
- Support more comfortable movement
- Reduce inflammatory activity within tissues
Treatment is generally quick, with most sessions lasting between 5 and 20 minutes. You’ll relax as our technician applies the device to the targeted area, and the process shouldn’t be painful. In fact, many patients find it calming!
As with the other techniques we explored, laser therapy works best as one part of a broader plan for staying active.
Turning Symptom Relief Into Better Movement
Reducing discomfort and stiffness with laser therapy has a clear practical purpose. When your joints feel easier to move, you may be better able to participate in the strengthening and mobility exercises that can improve your overall daily function.
Contact Ace Physique today to learn whether laser therapy could be a helpful addition to your osteoarthritis treatment plan.
