May 2025
We’re celebrating the power of movement and the incredible role physiotherapy plays in helping you feel your best. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing pain, or working toward your fitness goals, physiotherapy helps you move better, live stronger, and stay active. This month, let’s give a shout-out to the pros who keep us moving forward!

May is one of our favorite months of the year–and not just because of the warmer weather and longer days. It’s also National Physiotherapy Month!
National Physiotherapy Month is a time when we like to spotlight the many benefits of physiotherapy, from better movement to lasting pain relief. Whether you’re healing from an injury or just hoping to become more active, the Ace Physique physiotherapists are here to help.
Our team will assess your condition, create a care plan tailored to your needs, and guide you through treatment. Our physiotherapists will also coordinate with the other specialists at our clinic–including massage therapists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists–to develop a comprehensive approach to meeting your goals, no matter your age or activity level.

Four Ways Physiotherapy Enhances Movement
1. It Can Help You Move Without Increasing Your Pain
Physiotherapy is one of the frontline treatments for managing painful musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, sports injuries, arthritis, and more. Our team understands how your body moves, including how your muscles, bones, and joints work together. This means we can help you understand the underlying reasons for your pain–and develop a treatment program that doesn’t rely on medication or surgery.
2. It Can Help Improve Mobility at Any Age
The better you can move, the better you’ll feel. If you’re struggling with mobility for any reason–from sports injuries to age-related joint stiffness–we’ll work with you to address those restrictions.
Techniques such as hands-on manual therapy and targeted therapeutic exercise can help improve your range of motion and muscle strength, making it easier for you to move. We can also work with you to enhance balance and stability so you’ll feel more confident in your movements.
3. It Supports Recovery After Surgery or Injury
After an injury or surgery, your body needs help rebuilding strength and function, and physiotherapy plays a key role in this process. Furthermore, without proper rehab, you risk developing long-term complications, such as restricted mobility or chronic pain.
We tailor our rehab programs to meet your goals and your current stage of recovery. For example, early rehab focuses on pain management and enhancing the range of motion in the affected joint. Later rehab emphasizes building strength and helping you achieve functional tasks, like walking, taking stairs, or returning to sports and other activities.
4. It Offers Personalized Care with a Purpose
One of the biggest advantages of physiotherapy is that we always tailor your treatment to your specific needs. That’s why your first visit will always consist of a comprehensive assessment to help us understand your goals and limitations.
During this assessment, we’ll take a complete health history and review your strength, mobility, balance, and posture. We’ll learn more about your symptoms and how they affect your daily activities and look for any contributing factors we can help address.
Based on this information, we’ll build a care plan that we’ll adjust as you progress.
Comprehensive Care at Ace Physique
Many of our patients benefit from an integrated approach to treatment–meaning we’ll blend physiotherapy with the other services we offer at our clinic. For example:
- Massage therapy targets soft tissues to reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow, and facilitate your body’s natural recovery processes. It can also help relieve stress and promote relaxation during rehab.
- Acupuncture uses fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body, helping reduce inflammation, ease pain, and improve circulation.
- Chiropractic care focuses on spinal alignment and joint mechanics. When paired with physiotherapy, it can help relieve pressure on nerves and improve posture.
Together, these therapies create a well-rounded approach to healing, supporting each other by reducing pain, restoring alignment, and improving tissue function.

Move Smart This Season: Avoid Common Injuries While Hiking, Running & Biking
As the weather warms up and we head outdoors for hikes, bike rides, and runs, it’s important to keep injury prevention top of mind. Whether you’re hitting the trails or cruising your neighborhood, moving smart can help you stay active all season long.
Common injuries include ankle sprains, shin splints, knee pain (like runner’s knee), lower back strain, and overuse injuries like tendinitis. These often happen when we do “too much, too soon” or skip proper warm-ups and recovery.
Here are some simple tips to help you stay injury-free:
- Warm up before you move. Dynamic stretches and light movement help prepare your body for action.
- Progress gradually. Increase intensity, distance, or duration slowly to give your muscles and joints time to adapt.
- Wear the right gear. Supportive footwear and properly fitted helmets or biking gear can make a big difference.
- Listen to your body. Don’t push through pain. Discomfort may be your body’s way of warning you.
- Cool down and stretch. Gentle stretching and foam rolling post-activity help prevent stiffness and soreness.
If you’re dealing with aches or pains that don’t go away—or you want help building a safe, effective routine—a physiotherapist can assess your movement, identify risks, and guide you toward your goals.
Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy all the adventures this season has to offer!

Why Stronger Core & Pelvic Floor Muscles Benefit Everyone
When many people hear the word “core,” they immediately think of six-pack abs. In reality, your abdominals are only one part of your core, which also includes your obliques, back and hip muscles, and your pelvic floor (a sling of muscles that support your pelvic organs). It shouldn’t come as a surprise that your core plays an important role in your day-to-day life!
These muscles help with posture, balance, bladder control, and daily movement, so strengthening your core and pelvic floor is essential to supporting long-term physical function, no matter your age or fitness level.
At Ace Physique, we know core strengthening can be intimidating. Fortunately, you don’t have to dive straight into planks or other challenging exercises. Here are some simple movements to get you started.
Beginner-Friendly Core and Pelvic Floor Exercises
Diaphragmatic Breathing
- Start by getting comfortable. Next, place one hand on your chest and another on your belly. Then, inhale slowly through the nose and exhale through your mouth, focusing on the sensation of your belly expanding and contracting. This technique helps coordinate the diaphragm with pelvic floor function.
Core Activation
- Lie on your back with your knees bent. Gently pull your belly button toward your spine while keeping your spine pressed against the floor. Hold for a few seconds, then release. Do not forget to breathe!
Pelvic Tilts
- Lie on your back with your knees bent. Gently press your lower back into the floor, then release. Repeat 10–15 times to activate your deep core muscles, which support your spine.
Small Steps Make a Big Difference
Taking care of your core and pelvic floor is an important part of taking care of your whole body. The Ace Physique team can help you find the right core exercises for your needs and ensure you’re performing them correctly. Call to schedule an appointment today.
